KAW LAKE, OK (June 5, 2008)- Due to high water at Kaw Lake, KawFest has been rescheduled for July 19, announced Heather Ferguson, president of the Kaw Lake Association and chairman of this annual event. The 14th Annual KawFest had been scheduled for June 14
“We regret having to postpone this annual party on the beach,” said Ferguson. “However, after consulting with the U.S. Corps of Engineers at the Kaw Lake office we realize that we need time for the water to be discharged and to get the beach in shape for this event. With rain expected during the next week, this doesn’t allow enough time if we stayed with our original date.”
The Kaw Lake Association hopes that groups wanting to participate in the Sand Volleyball Tournament, Classic Car/Motorcycle Poker Run, Talent Revue and other KawFest activities will put July 19 on their calendar and plan to attend.
“As we near the event be reading your local newspapers and listening to your local radio stations for updated information,” said Kathy Tippin, executive director of the Kaw Lake Association. “If you have any questions, please contact our office.”
The event, filled with fun-in-the-sun activities for every member of the family, will take place at Sandy Beach on Kaw Lake, just east of Ponca City. An assortment of events and competitions has been set up with sometime for everyone. Plus, the Kaw Lake Association has many prizes available for participants in all events,

9 am—Gates open at Sandy Beach, site of KawFest 2008 activities
Sand Volleyball Tournament begins
9 am-4 pm – Classic Car and Motorcycle Poker Run
10 am—Kid’s Games begin
10 am-3pm—Sand Sculpture Contest
11 am-3:30 pm—Talent Revue
6 pm -11 pm—Concert on the Beach with two live bands
