Police and Firefighters thuggish Unions can´t continue to hold city hostage and boycott progress.
The President of The Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Roy Williams, in an exclusive interview with a reporter from “Nuestra Comunidad” rejected the irrational boycott of MAPS 3 by irrational Firefighters and Police Unions.
In spite of the fact that funds raised from tax revenues generated by MAPS 3, which are paid by visitors, Oklahoma City residents and tourists, have been promised to be allocated for law enforcement, and in spite of the pleas made by District Attorney David Pratters to Police and Fire Fighters Unions to stop their selfish, irrational and thuggish boycott of Maps 3, Police and Fire Fighters Unions continue “holding the city hostage for ransom” by threatening to kill the project if they don’t get the what they want. “What is ironic is that the presidents of the Police and Fire Department Unions, Gill Hensley and Phil Sipe, oppose this important project to the city when they don´t, even, live in Oklahoma City. They are, certainly, happy to receive their salaries, which are paid by taxes contributed by visitors to our city and our Oklahoma City residents,” said Williams.
To those that say that MAPS 3 is a project for the rich paid by the poor, progressive citizens will not buy their rap because they have seen, with their own eyes, that MAPS 1 and MAPS 2 have had positive impact for the city and the State, as these projects have transformed an ugly duckling city into a beautiful swan, in which every body is proud to belong and live in. No one can deny that the The Ecological Central Park, The Aquatic Senior Center, the trails, the modern rail transportation and a more functional Convention Center that will be constructed will be for everybody’s enjoyment and, automatically, their construction will create more jobs and bring more revenues to our depressed economy.
Los hispanos conscientes y progresistas debemos salir masivamente a votar por el proyecto MAPS 3 porque la construcción de las obras contempladas en el mismo serán de beneficio para todos y crearán más fuentes de trabajo y generarán más divisas para la economía del estado. Entonces: ¡Todos a las Urnas el 8 de Diciembre para decir SI al proyecto MAPS 3!
