Bronx, NY, May 5, 2010 – In celebration of the 59th observance of The National Day of Prayer (http://nationaldayofprayer.org), the Rev. Jose Torres, president of United Chaplains State of New York will lead a solemn assembly prayer gathering at the steps of Manhattan’s City Hall, at Noon on May 6, 2010. The event is co-sponsored by Harlem’s New Horizons Church, 2116 Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd. at 126th Street, New York, NY, Pastor Michel Faulkner.
“In acknowledgement that we place our trust in God as creator of earth and its people, participants will gather and publicly pray the Father will heal our land,” said Rev. Marcos A. Miranda, director of public relations, United Chaplains State of New York.
This year’s prayer theme is “On Bended Knee”, a reference to Psalm 95:6,7a; as well as, “For Such a Time as This”, a reference to Nahum 1:7, two passages from the Bible.
“Recent events in New York City have emphasized our desperate need for God’s help,” said Michel Faulkner, pastor at New Horizon’s Church of Harlem.
This event will take place on the steps of City Hall in Manhattan on Thursday, May 6th 2010, from Noon to 1 PM. Security checks (picture ID required) starts at 11:30AM. This event is non-denominational and open to the general public.
