Children’s Mental Health Day promotes
resilience and recovery
(April 29, 2010, El Paso, TX) El Paso mental health providers, advocates and families are coming together to bring awareness to the specialized mental health needs of area children during the Mental Health Walk & Fair on Thursday, May 6th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta Drive.
The event will feature free music, food and entertainment and is designed to promote positive youth development and the transformation of mental health services delivery for children and youth with serious mental illness.
The “Stomp Out Stigma” Walk is sponsored by the El Paso Mental Health Awareness Coalition, which is comprised of local agencies including University Behavior Health, Border Children’s Mental Health Collaborative, El Paso MHMR, Child Protective Services, Juvenile Probation Department, National Alliance on Mental Illness and PEAK Behavioral Healthcare Services.
“Stomp Out Stigma” Walk & Fair is part of a month-long series of Mental Health Awareness events taking place throughout May.
