More than 22,000 Miner fans will rock the center of campus at Minerpalooza 2009, The University of Texas at El Paso’s biggest back-to-school block party of the year. The El Paso community is invited to join in on the fun.

Time, Location
Festivities will be from 6 p.m. to midnight in the center of campus at University Avenue and Hawthorne Street.

Fun Activities

• Inflatable games, UFO Play System, Quarterback Blitz, Medieval Joust, Bungee Run, a Velcro wall and more.

• A Kid Zone for children ages 6 to 10 full of games and attractions, including a toss across, treasure chest prizes, face painting, inflatables and duck pond.

• 37 student-run activity booths, two dunk tanks, caricature drawings, car bash, marriage booth and more.

• Live entertainment will feature Girl in a Coma, Fungi Mungle, Adair Lion, Enter and Magician Robert Smith.

The pep rally will start at 7 p.m. when the UTEP Marching Band, cheerleaders, Golddiggers and football team take over the stage and fire up fans before the home opener against the Buffalo Bulls. Head coach Mike Price and UTEP President Diana Natalicio will also pep up the crowd.

The event is free and open to the public. Tickets will be sold for food, beverages, and certain activities. UTEP students with a valid Miner Gold Card will get a wristband, which allows them unlimited free access to all inflatable games. Wristbands will also be sold for $6.

Children age 9 and under receive a free wristband, which allow them unlimited access to inflatable games in the Kid Zone.

Free parking is available after 3 p.m. in the Sun Bowl parking garage at Sun Bowl Drive and University Avenue.

Minerpalooza VIP tickets are still available. The $50 package includes an appetizer buffet, commemorative T-shirt, wristband that provides unlimited access to inflatable games, entry to an air-conditioned tent and a chance to win season tickets to this year’s Miner football games.

Parking
Parking for live remote vehicles will be available on Kerbey Avenue behind the Union Building West. Vehicles must arrive before 5:30 p.m. to park in this area. Those who arrive after 5:30 p.m. will park on Hawthorne Street south of University Avenue.

Other media can park in the UTEP parking garage at Sun Bowl Drive and University Avenue.
