This Friday, June 20th Marcia Greenwood; a Cleveland Elementary School Art teacher will showcase paintings inspired by her trip to Japan. Greenwood and about 200 other U.S. teachers spent part of 2006 touring Tokyo, learning about the culture, lifestyle and teaching methods of the Japanese.
This was a trip fully funded by the Japanese government to help strengthen the relationships between the two countries.
She is back in Oklahoma and inspired by sights and sounds of the Japanese culture.
Her painting is part of a traveling exhibit that has graced the walls of museums in New York City and Japan; now it’s back home for Oklahomans to view and enjoy. As a special addition, Ms. Greenwood’s first through fifth grade students painted traditional Japanese fans to compliment her piece which are also on display.
This is an international traveling art exhibit featuring an Oklahoma City teacher and her students; you can see it Friday June 20th from 5pm-7pm at the Gold Dome Gallery in Northwest Oklahoma City at 1112 Northwest 23rd St.
