The Purcell Public Library, 919 N. Ninth, has planned two special programs for teens ages 12 through 18 for the last two weeks of June. Tuesday, June 17, at 2 p.m. artist Sharon Von Schriltz will show teens how to create an altered book collage using discarded books during the Altered Book Workshop. Tuesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. another art workshop, Mixed Media Art, is planned with artist Lynn Melton demonstrating how to modify traditional watercolor painting techniques to create a mixed-media masterpiece. Supplies are provided. Register to attend.
Blanchard Public Library, 300 N. Main, has the Mixed Media Art workshop set for Thursday, June 19, at 2 p.m. Supplies are provided. The following Thursday, June 26, at 2 p.m. teens can try the latest high-tech games including Nintendo Wii during Teen Gaming. Registration is required for both programs. Newcastle Public Library, 705 NW 10th, is offering Mixed Media Art Friday, June 20, at 2 p.m. Supplies are provided, so registration is required. Friday, June 27, at 2 p.m. teens are invited to conduct their own T-shirt Surgery. If they bring an oversized T-shirt to transform, artist Kiona Wooton-Millirons will lead teens through altering their shirt to make their own fashion statement. Supplies other than T-shirts are provided; and registration is required. Call the library at 387-5076.
Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. is Library Day at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at the University of Oklahoma. Get free admission with a Pioneer Library System library card.
