YWCAs Imagine: Peace

ImagenAn afternoon of Inner Peace, Cultural Peace, Spiritual Peace,
and Peace at Home
El Paso, Texas ~ The YWCA El Paso del Norte Region’s Racial Justice Initiative will be hosting the 5th Annual Imagine: Peace on Sunday, May 23 from Noon to 4 pm at the YWCA Joyce Jaynes Branch, 1600 Brown Street. Attendees will enjoy a variety of activities
The event will begin with a Spiritual Dialogue, featuring a panel of representatives from different faiths, and will be followed by free massage appointments, acupuncture demonstrations, crafting activities, cultural performances,
and much more. Last year, nearly 300 El Pasoans joined the YWCA for Imagine: Peace, which ended with its traditional release of white doves—a symbol of unity and peace. This year, the Racial Justice Initiative is collaborating with the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center to provide more opportunities for El Pasoans to express their vision of peace through a city-wide photography contest. The contest is open to all ages and will be held during the month of April. The winning photographers will be awarded at the Imagine: Peace event, along with the Racial Justice Ambassadors.
For more than 10 years, the Racial Justice Initiative has awarded individuals and community members for their achievements in the areas of Racial Justice, Peace and Harmony, and Social Justice.
Nominations for the 2010 Racial Justice Ambassador Awards were accepted until April 16. For more information about the Racial Justice Ambassador Awards or Imagine: Peace, contact Adriana Payan at (915) 577-9922 or a.payan@ywcaelpaso.org.
