EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP rifle team fell, 4636-4551, to TCU at the UTEP Rifle Range on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs outfired the Miners in both guns, shooting 2294 and 2342 in smallbore and air gun respectively while UTEP shot 2247 and 2304.
Alix Moncada was the top shooter, recording a team-high, 590, in the air rifle. Andrea Palafox followed Moncada, shooting 577 and Josie Burzynski and Hannah Muegge ended with scores of 573 and 564, respectively.
Palafox gunned a 572 in smallbore to lead the Miners. No other Miner reached the 570 mark, as Moncada, Burzynski and Muegge followed with scores of 569, 555 and 551.
The Miners will face TCU for the second time in as weeks, when they travel to Fort Worth to take on the Horned Frogs next Saturday. They return home to host the NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 13 against Nevada.
