ZOO’S “OSTRICH EGG BREAKFAST” SET FOR MAY 10

ImagenRise and shine to one of the tastiest traditions in town! ZooFriends will host the 22nd annual Ostrich Egg Breakfast on Saturday, May 10, 2008, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

The wild morning of fun will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, scrambled hens’ eggs and the famous ostrich egg omelets. The breakfast will be cooked and served by Oklahoma Zoological Society board members, volunteers and gourmet chefs as a fund-raising event. Proceeds from the breakfast will help the Oklahoma Zoological Society fund Zoo projects such as local and international conservation efforts, zoological research and educational materials.

“Last year’s breakfast was the largest in several years and we look forward to another successful breakfast,” said OZS Acting Director Betsy Allie. More than 2,000 people are expected to attend this year’s breakfast.

In addition to breakfast, entertainment will be provided by local musicians and clowns. Limited edition T-shirts designed by local artist Jim Lange are available for purchase and guests will enjoy a free Fins & Feathers show. T-shirts are $10 for adults and $7 for children. Plus, guests can purchase a copy of the new children’s book Oh Ostrich Feathers!, signed by author John Morrow. ZooFriends will receive 15% of all book sales to support the Zoo, and books may also be purchased at www.purplegiraffebooks.com. The fun continues with Zoolympics from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with fun and educational activities focused on animal behavior, conservation, health and fitness for children 11 years and under.
