The following appointment has been announced in Rome today at noon (5 a.m. CDT):
Most Reverend Anthony B. Taylor, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has been named as Bishop of Little Rock, Arkansas, by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI.
Bishop Taylor is the first Oklahoma priest named a bishop since John Sullivan was named to lead the Diocese of Grand Island, Nebraska in 1972. The Mass of Ordination will take place in Little Rock, on Thursday, June 5th, 2008 at 2 p.m., in the presence of Most Reverend Pietro Sambi, the Apostolic Nuncio.
The Most Reverend Eusebius Beltran, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City will introduce Bishop Taylor at a press conference tomorrow, April 11 at 9:30 a.m. CDT in the board room of the Connor Center, 3214 Lake Avenue, Oklahoma City. (The Connor Center is directly north of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.) There will be an opportunity for questions and photos.
